ReplyDeleteBut in this writing in which you tried to correct others, you have also made too many embarrassing grammatical and structural mistakes, please proofread your posts before publishing them.
ReplyDeleteI will ensure I proofread in my subsequent post. Thanks for your comment
DeleteI have a few comments. I'll just number them according to the number in addressing.
ReplyDelete1. "Name it" is correct depending on context. You should've been clear about the context you were addressing in that one.
6.1. the RIGHT English/Grammer/statement. I would've let that one slide as perhaps a typo but seeing as that's the only place you used that wording, I wasn't sure if it was a typographical error or an idiosyncracy.
6.2. Plate number and number plate are 2 completely different things and so neither is inherently "wrong" unless misused. One refers to the number on the plate whereas the other refers to the plate which bears the number.
12. "One of the boys" is just as correct as "one of the lads". I assume your correction was based on the improper use of the plural. You should've clarified.
13. I googled "brushing tub" and could not find a single result.
14. Since we're all using elite English here, Potable water, not drinkable water.
16. Generally, 'see' has the connotation of having gone to the movie theater and watched the movie there whereas 'watch' tends to mean to watch it in a home environment on DVD or TV. So, "I like watching movies" is a perfectly correct statement if, like me, you prefer to watch all your movies at home on your laptop or TV or something.
17. Abeg getat!
18. Pair of shoes. Nobody says "couple of shoes" unless you're insinuating that they're from different pairs.
20. I don't think any educated person says "bitten by rain". Everyone I know says "beaten", which seems just as accurate to me, but just to be sure, I googled it. All the results I got were from random articles like yours, poorly written by people who think they know far more than they actually do.
21. While I don't dispute that "I missed your call" is correct, a call that isn't answered is, in phone terms, a missed call. If you pick up your phone after a while and notice you have missed calls from a certain person, I don't see what's wrong in saying that you saw their missed call. I would like further clarification please.
Honestly, I appreciate your comment. I will do my research again and make necessary changes. May be we can help share some ideas together. My official WhatsApp contact is +2349077949919
